Saint Petersburg is visited and photographed by millions of people every year. However, the American photographer Amos Chapple chose a specific method of shooting: he used a little drone to lift his camera high over the streets, channels and cathedrals of St. Petersburg. When the fortress was being built, only shabby huts of fishermen were standing on small islands of the Neva. These places were considered too wild, too damp and too unhealthy for humans. Saint Isaac’s Cathedral that is partially being reconstructed. It was being erected for long 40 years (1818-1858). Many Finnish workers helped to build the object which resulted in the idiom to appear in the Finnish language: “to build the St. Isaac’s way”, i.e. “to build too long or longer than expected”.
